'Make a Date with Mystery' - Culminating Program for the First Adult Summer Reading Celebration

Welcome authors Camille Minichino, Mark Coggins and Hailey Lind for the culminating Adult Summer Reading Celebration Mystery Writer program. "Make a Date with Mystery" is the theme of a program series supporting the first Adult Summer Reading Program. Camille Minichino, a PhD in Physics, has written several titles in the Periodical Table Series including The Boric Acid Murder, The Nitrogen Murder, and The Oxygen Murder. Mark Coggins' newest release is Candy From Strangers. His mysteries are set in San Francisco. The plots involve high tech and software since he studied and worked in places like Netscape and Silicon Valley which influenced his writing. Hailey Lind has two titles in The Art Lover's Series: Feint of Art and The Shooting Gallery. Her upcoming novel is Brush with Death. For information call (408) 808-2397.

Summer Dance Series - Line Dance

Learn how to dance and get healthy at the August Summer Dance Series conducted in Caret Plaza, located just outside the campus entrance to the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Library. Several dance forms are covered in this FREE five-week lunch-hour series. Instructors from local dance studios will demonstrate a variety of fun and easy dance styles, proving once and for all that getting healthy and fit needn't be dull. This week’s class features line dancing. Audience participation is encouraged. Hosted by General Collections. Co-sponsored by the Friends of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Library, California Line Dance Association of America, Hellenic Heritage Institute, Carolina Lugo's Brisas de Espana Flamenco Dance Company, All Now! Get a Clue with the Young Detectives from the Children's Discovery Museum Summer of Service

Join us for a live show presented by youth from the Children's Discovery Museum's Summer of Service program. Afterwards, there will be crafts and games for children of all ages. Friends of the King Library Booksale

The Friends of the King Library are having a booksale. The revenues from these sales are donated back to the library for use in sponsoring a variety of community and literacy projects. The Ebbs and Flows of Wetland Protection

Please join Dr. John Callaway, University of San Francisco professor of environmental studies, as he explores wetland protection since the enactment of the Clean Water Act. This program is free and will be open to the public. Light refreshments and beverages will be served. This event is sponsored by the Ecological Society of America, in affiliation with San Jose State University and the South Bay Salt Pond Restoration Project. Magician Phil Ackerly Presents - Mystery Magic Theater

Award-winning entertainer, Phil Ackerly celebrates reading this summer with his "Mystery Magic Theater." Witness feats of legerdemain and prestidigitation (find out what these words mean!) and see a live rabbit appear right before your eyes. All sleuths, both young and old (that's you the audience) will learn how to perform a magic trick. The show will last 45-minutes and is appropriate for ages 3 and up.
